Voice SearchSimply stating a term does not open a searchIt used to be that on an AirTV Mini, a user could just state something like "Johnny Bravo" and the search would open and search for that term. Due to a back-end change, this function no longer works. Now users will have to start their voice search by saying "Search for Johnny Bravo" etc.08/25/21-

Mini Remote PairingAirTV Mini remote fails to pair either during setup or becomes disconnected and won’t pair again.

Be sure the batteries are inserted correctly and are fresh.

Bring up the Android System Menu:

  1. Unplug the power cord from the Airtv Mini
  2. Press and hold the reset button on the Airtv Mini
  3. While the reset button is pressed in, plug the power cord into the Airtv Mini
  4. The user should see "USB burn" on the screen
  5. After 10-20 seconds, the Android system menu will appear on the screen

Use the Android system menu to reset the device and enable the user to pair the remote:

  1. Navigate to the "wipe all data" row by pressing the reset button once per row
  2. Press and hold the reset button for 3 seconds to confirm Yes/OK to wipe all data (this will remove the sling app etc.)
    1. If it seems to "go too quickly" during step 7, repeat steps 7-8 again
  3. After wiping all data, from the android system menu, select reboot
    1. The reboot may take 30-60 seconds
  4. When the reboot is complete, the user will see the "pair the remote" screen
  5. Press the OK button on the remote to pair the remote to the Airtv Mini
    1. If that doesn't work, you may need to unpair your remote. To do this, press the “Info” and “Cursor-Left” buttons for 3 seconds. You will see the small red LED in the upper right corner of the remote flash two times.
    2. When the remote stops blinking, press the OK button on the remote to pair it with the Airtv Mini. Press the OK button exactly once, and then wait. It may take 4-5 seconds for the remote to finish pairing.

Netflix buttonAirTV Minis are currently experiencing an issue with the remote where the Netflix, Home, and Google buttons cease functioning.

If a customer states that the Netflix, Home, or Google buttons on the AirTV Mini remote aren't working,

  1. Record the device serial number, firmware version, and remote firmware version
  2.  Ask the user if they are able to log in and out of Sling and whether they were logged in when they first encountered the issue.

Potential Workaround:

Have the user sign in to their Sling account so that they can get to the settings menus, let all updates to the AirTV Mini run, and then use the Reset to factory defaults option in settings. After reset, do NOT have the user sign in to their Google account (yet), but do have them sign into Sling. Then, have them go to the Apps section, load the Google Play store, at this point enter their Google credentials, and hopefully the remote will be working.

Mini InternetSome AirTV Mini's are having difficulty maintaining their internet connectionsIf the Mini still has difficulty maintaining an internet connection after all normal troubleshooting steps have failed, please inform the customer we are working with the manufacturer to identify the exact cause of the issue and do not have an ETA for a fix at this time.
Update 8/21/20:
We believe the issue may be tied to an incorrect system time on the device. Have the user go to Settings-->Device Preferences-->Date & Time Made Automatic Date & Time off. Then enter today's date and current time and timezone.
If this does not work, attempt a factory reset.
Please DO NOT exchange devices for this issue.
